May Arboretum Society hosts the 10th Annual Gingerbread House Competition

Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Reno, Nevada – Get ready to pre-heat the oven, pull out the cookie sheet and pastry bag to enter the 10th Annual Gingerbread House Competition and Festival sponsored by the May Arboretum Society. No experience is necessary. Children, families, non-profits, schools, culinary students and professionals, and businesses are encouraged to participate.
Enter in one of nine categories including the “Kimmie Candy” category in partnership with local company, Kimmie Candy. Entries in this category must be created/embellished with at least 75% Kimmie Candy confections. In addition to a ribbon, the 1st place winner in this category will be awarded a prize from the Kimmie Candy Company.
All participants are expected to make their own candied culinary creation – information and official rules may be found at www.MayArboretumSociety.org/events
All gingerbread entries must be dropped off at the May Museum (1595 North Sierra Street, Reno) by 10:00am on December 9h. At the completion of judging, all the entries will be on display for the Gingerbread Festival. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. A ribbon will also be awarded to the “People’s Choice,” determined by a vote of the general public attending the Gingerbread Festival.
All interested parties must register to participate by December 4, 2016. There is $10.00 fee per gingerbread creation entered. Registration may be completed by mail or online at www.MayArboretumSociety.org
