Innovations Graduate Wins Prestigious Music Scholarship

For the second time in as many years, a graduate at Innovations High School in Reno has won the prestigious Delfeayo Marsalis Scholarship for Music. Sadie Meals, an up and coming blue/jazz vocalist, performed an original composition entitled “The Wolf of Wall Street” during the competition in St. Louis, MO to win the $1,000 scholarship.

The Delfeayo Marsalis Scholarship is awarded annually to one student who attends a school that provides Big Picture Learning, an innovative program designed to place students at the center their own education. These students spend considerable time in the community working with mentors and are assessed on exhibitions and demonstrations of achievement, on motivation, and on the real world evaluations and assessments that all of us face in our everyday lives.

Sadie joins Julian Doehring, also a graduate of Innovations High School, who won the first Delfeayo Marsalis Scholarship last year!
