NGroup of students and familiesatchez students and their families got a preview of their renovated school last Thursday at the open house and ice cream social.  Families and students were greeted by the new principal Ms. Gia Maraccini who spent all summer getting ready for the school year by meeting with families at their homes, and making sure that school was ready for her students.

Pauite Elder, Reynelda James, offered a special blessing to the school, students, families, and Natchez community to mark the beginning of their school year in an improved building.  Students were able to meet their teachers and also received backpacks filled with school supplies provided by the Indian Education program.

Student getting backpacksDuring the summer Natchez Elementary School underwent major renovations with complete classrooms upgrades that included smart boards that allow the teacher to have access to the internet and interactive lessons by the touch of the screen. All the students were so excited to see their school and loved the improvements!  Funding for this revitalization was made possible by the passage of WC-1 funding.
