Dr. Dana Ryan recognized at Salute to Women of Achievement Luncheon

Congratulations to Dr. Dana Ryan, Washoe County School District’s Director of Signature Academies and Career & Technical Education (CTE), who was named a 2017 Woman of Achievement. This annual recognition is awarded by the Nevada Women’s Fund and celebrates the most passionate, dedicated, confident, energetic, and successful women in our community. Stellar women from our community, including Dr. Ryan, were honored at a luncheon on Thursday at the Grand Sierra Resort. This is the 26thyear that the Nevada Women’s Fund has held their Salute to Women of Achievement. The organization is dedicated to strengthening our community by empowering women to improve their lives.

Dana joined WCSD in 2002. She worked as an ESL teacher in middle and high school before moving to the Signature Academies and CTE position four years ago. Dana is known for her passion and enthusiasm. The Signature Academies and CTE programs have flourished under her direction. She was instrumental in developing the first career and technical high school in northern Nevada. Under her leadership, Signature Academies have expanded into all comprehensive high schools in WCSD. She continues to support students as they develop into career-and-college ready citizens through the programs offered. She partners with the business community to provide pertinent training and educational opportunities in the schools. She is able to collaborate with a variety of valuable community partners that provide a win-win situation for students and businesses alike.

Dana Ryan is commended for her work and the District is proud of her for being recognized as a 2017 Woman of Achievement.
