WCSD Provides Passports to High School Success: Family Information Nights Scheduled

High School Passport Night

Reno, NV (November 14, 2018) – As part of its continuing commitment to providing supports and resources to help all students succeed, the Washoe County School District (WCSD) invites all families to attend a Family Information Night and learn more about Passports to High School Success.

At these free public events, families may speak with representatives from more than a dozen programs designed to provide opportunities for high school students to expand their educational horizons, pursue their interests, and develop their unique talents and abilities.

“This is an important part of our mission to bring every child, by name and face, to graduation,” said Dr. Kristen McNeill, deputy superintendent of WCSD. “Every student learns differently and has different abilities and interests. We work to provide them with opportunities to achieve their goals and begin their adult lives with skills that will serve them in the future. I encourage all of our families to attend one of these events and learn more about what is available for their students, even if they aren’t ready to attend high school just yet.”

At the events, representatives of the following programs will be available to discuss opportunities with families:

  • Signature Academies
  • Career & Technical Education
  • Gifted and Talented Education
  • Counseling
  • Special Education Supports
  • Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate
  • Dual Credit Options
