The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that one high school senior from the Washoe County School District (WCSD) has been awarded a scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year. Reese Taylor, who attends Reno High School, was named as the scholarship winner.

Taylor is among 2,500 Merit Scholar designees chosen for his accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. He was chosen from among more than 15,000 outstanding finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program, and will receive $2,500.

“Students who win these scholarships serve as outstanding examples of academic success, and we are proud of his accomplishment,” said Dr. Kristen McNeill, deputy superintendent for WCSD. “As Reese begins his college career, we wish him all the best and congratulate him and his family on this wonderful achievement.”

Taylor plans to study mechanical engineering.
